Washington state wildfires: Spokane mayor calls it worst disaster in state history

Tens of thousands of residents in Washington state have been forced to evacuate as wildfires driven by strong winds and dry conditions destroyed more than 640 structures. One of 15 active fires tore through Spokane, the state's second-largest city. The Spokane mayor described the blazes as the worst disaster the state has ever faced, with over 1,000 square kilometres already burned.
