UK first: baby operated on in womb to correct intestines outside his body

Baby Theo became the first British child to undergo surgery in the womb to treat gastroschisis, a condition where the intestines develop outside the abdominal cavity. The procedure was carried out as part of a pioneering clinical trial. Theo was born healthy, with doctors describing him as a "miracle" baby.
