Lofoten Islands to introduce tourist tax of up to 3% of accommodation cost

Norway's parliament has passed legislation allowing municipalities in the Lofoten Islands to levy a tourist tax of up to 3% of the accommodation price. The revenue is intended to fund visitor infrastructure such as toilets and car parks, and to mitigate the negative impact of growing tourist numbers.
