Activist who defended boar Henio in Warsaw convicted – groups warn of chilling effect
In late April, residents of Warsaw's Bemowo district rallied to protect a boar named Henio from being put down at the demand of a local priest. Months later, one of the protesters received a conviction for obstructing police. Civil society groups and critics of the Warsaw authorities say the verdict is intended to create a chilling effect on civic protest.
