Alain Bouchard, the founder of a global convenience-store and fuel-station empire, has been building his retail network for 45 years. After a failed attempt to acquire 7-Eleven, he has now secured Żabka — a major prize in the Polish convenience retail market, snatched away from Japanese competitors.
