Galaxy Express 999 returns after 48 years with new Toei Animation film

Toei Animation has officially announced a new Galaxy Express 999 anime film, nearly half a century after the original 1978 series. The announcement was made on X via the official account of the late creator Leiji Matsumoto. Veteran director Rintaro, who helmed the acclaimed 1979 film, is returning to provide the story concept for the new production.
