UCI president backs night-time doping tests after Tour de France controversy

UCI president David Lappartient said there will "always be suspicion in cycling" due to the sport's past, and defended night-time doping tests as justified in exceptional cases. Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard were tested at 5am and 2am respectively by the International Testing Agency (ITA) during this year's Tour de France. Lappartient stressed, however, that the UCI would not support nightly testing of all riders as routine practice.
