Italian boy Mattia dies aged 13 after nine years in a coma triggered by E. coli cheese

Mattia Maestri, an Italian boy, fell into a coma at the age of four after eating raw-milk cheese contaminated with E. coli bacteria. His last words before losing consciousness were: "Mum, Dad, I can see monsters." Nine years later, Mattia died at the age of 13.
