EU approves Wegovy pill — first oral GLP-1 drug for obesity

The European Commission has approved Wegovy in tablet form as the first oral GLP-1 receptor agonist authorised for treating obesity and overweight in the European Union. Previously the drug was only available as an injectable pen. The approval offers a new option for patients who avoided injections.
