Former German ambassador in Moscow: Putin may order mobilisation this autumn
Alexander Lambsdorff, who served as Germany's ambassador to Russia from 2023 to 2026, says Vladimir Putin remains determined and may be planning a surprise mobilisation this autumn. During his three years in Moscow, Lambsdorff was surveilled by Russian security services and observed Putin at close quarters. He believes the Kremlin's long-held reluctance to order a general mobilisation could soon end.
