The Milky Way may harbour 170 million black holes, study suggests

Scientists estimate that the Milky Way may harbour as many as 170 million black holes — the remnants of massive stars that have ended their lives. This figure is far higher than previous estimates and suggests the galaxy's stellar graveyard is far more densely populated than thought. Most of these objects remain invisible and undetected.
