$89M Coldcard exploit drives bitcoin holders to exchanges for safety
Following the discovery of an exploit in Coldcard hardware wallets that resulted in the theft of $89 million in bitcoin, smaller holders are moving their funds onto exchanges for safety. Blockchain analytics firms note this is the opposite of the trend seen after the FTX collapse in late 2022, when investors withdrew bitcoin from exchanges en masse. Coldcard is a widely-used hardware wallet considered among the more secure crypto storage solutions.
