Hungary shuts down Paks nuclear plant due to Danube drought — 40% of electricity offline

Hungarian PM Péter Magyar warned of "the most critical five days" ahead after a record Central European drought forced Budapest to fully shut down the Paks Nuclear Power Plant for the first time in 44 years. The Soviet-built facility on the Danube provides 40% of Hungary's electricity. Magyar called on citizens to look out for one another and conserve energy starting Monday.
