Infantino defeated: FIFA shelves World Cup privatisation after UEFA-led boycott

FIFA offered its member associations $40 million over four years — versus the previous $8 million — in exchange for approving the privatisation of the World Cup. The UEFA-led boycott proved decisive, however, and FIFA president Gianni Infantino was forced to abandon the plan entirely.
