Andromeda galaxy is winding down star formation, Hubble data reveals

New analysis of Hubble Space Telescope data shows the Andromeda galaxy (M31) has been steadily slowing its star formation over the past 500 million years. Scientists believe the galaxy is naturally winding down after a more active period. Andromeda, located 2.5 million light-years away, is the only major galaxy moving toward the Milky Way rather than away from it.
