Wealthy Saudis bypass sharia inheritance law by writing wills under English law
Wealthy Saudis and other Gulf families are increasingly writing their wills in the United Kingdom to circumvent sharia inheritance law, which restricts what daughters and non-Muslim relatives can inherit. English law allows them to divide their estates freely among all children, effectively giving daughters equal shares. The workaround is informally known as "sharia light."
