Store security cannot force you to open your bag in Poland

Security guards at Polish discount stores like Biedronka and Lidl have no police powers and cannot compel a customer to show the contents of their bag. They may only ask for a voluntary check; refusal is not an offence. If theft is genuinely suspected, they can detain a person until police arrive but may not conduct a search themselves.
