Economist: digital revolution handed power to the 1% through rent extraction, not production

Prof. Ladislau Dowbor, a Brazilian economist of Polish origin, argues that we no longer live in production-based capitalism. Today's elites accumulate wealth by capturing rent from data, platforms and digital infrastructure, concentrating economic power in the hands of the top 1%. Physical factories and farms still exist but serve this new system of accumulation.
