Sznajder loses to Pegula in Washington semi-final — echoes of Paris defeat to Chwalińska

Diana Sznajder was beaten by top seed Jessica Pegula in the Washington WTA semi-final in two sets. The scoreline was almost identical to her earlier semi-final loss to Poland's Maja Chwalińska in Paris — Sznajder won just one game fewer than in that match. It was the Russian player's third semi-final of the year, following appearances in Adelaide and Paris.
