Polish researcher decodes 626 ancient inscriptions on a Greek gate in Libya

Anna Urszula Kordas from the University of Warsaw has deciphered 626 letters, monograms and symbols carved into an ancient Greek gate in Libya. The marks, long dismissed as random over more than two thousand years, turn out to form a sophisticated system used by the structure's ancient builders. The discovery sheds new light on how construction work was organised and communicated in antiquity.
