Seven Polish beaches closed due to E. coli, enterococci and toxic algae
Poland's sanitary inspectorate (Sanepid) has closed seven popular coastal bathing spots, including beaches in Darłowo and Gdańsk, after detecting dangerous E. coli bacteria and enterococci in the water. Toxic algae blooms have also forced closures at inland beaches, including those on the Szczecin Lagoon and in the Kashubian region. Swimming at all affected sites is prohibited until further notice.
