Niewiadoma-Phinney finishes 7th on Tour de France stage 1, Włodarczyk crashes

Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney, the reigning Tour de France champion, made a strong start to her title defence, staying with the lead group and finishing seventh on stage one. Poland's national champion Dominika Włodarczyk was less fortunate, crashing in the peloton and finishing outside the top 30 after losing time. The race is only in its opening stages.
