Polish oil mills emptying as cheap Ukrainian rapeseed oil floods the market
Polish oil-pressing plants have a capacity of over 4.1 million tonnes of oilseeds per year, but are running well below that level. For nearly two years the industry has been squeezed by limited domestic rapeseed supply, high energy costs, retailer price pressure and surging rapeseed oil imports from Ukraine. Industry representatives warn that without policy changes, plants will gradually lose their competitive edge.
