AI detects dementia risk from sleeping brain's EEG recordings

Researchers used machine learning to analyse EEG recordings from around 7,000 sleeping adults and found that a brain age older than a person's biological age was linked to a sharply higher dementia risk. Every additional 10 years of accelerated brain ageing raised that risk by nearly 40%. The method could enable early detection of dementia long before memory problems begin.
