Ukrainian firefighters help EU member state for first time, tackling fires in France

Ukraine joined the EU's civil protection mechanism for the first time, sending firefighting teams and equipment to France to help combat wildfires. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called it "European solidarity", saying Ukrainians show every day that they belong to the EU. France's president also thanked Ukraine for the assistance.
