Ceuta: 60,000 migrants, 67 deaths — crisis dwarfs 2021 wave

An estimated 60,000 migrants crossed from Morocco into Spain's enclave of Ceuta over just a few days, with at least 67 people killed in the attempt — far exceeding the 2021 crisis. By Saturday, most migrants had left the enclave, according to officials. Spain announced plans for a 500-metre sea barrier, while a majority of EU countries called for emergency talks in an open letter to the bloc's interior ministers.
