Wildfires near Athens prompt evacuations west of the Greek capital

New wildfires broke out west and northwest of Athens on Friday, triggering evacuation orders for surrounding areas. Winds of around 80 km/h hampered water-bombing aircraft. Fires elsewhere in Greece were brought under control, though authorities warned that the risk of new outbreaks remains very high.
