Sam Raimi to produce Stephen King's "Desperation" adaptation

Searchlight Pictures is developing a film adaptation of Stephen King's 1996 novel "Desperation." Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert will produce via Ghost House Pictures, while Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein — directors of last year's "Final Destination: Bloodlines" — are in talks to direct. The screenplay will be written by Ryan Brennan. The story follows travellers stranded in a remote desert town terrorised by a possessed, sadistic police officer.
