US bans foreign-made robots including Roombas over cybersecurity fears
The US is blocking new models of foreign-made connected robots and power inverters from receiving FCC approval, citing cybersecurity and supply chain risks flagged by national security agencies. The restrictions would cover future foreign-manufactured models of devices such as the Roomba. Existing approved models are not immediately affected, but no new foreign designs will gain certification going forward.
