Solar and dust storms can heat Mars by up to 50°C simultaneously
Astronomers have found that solar storms and dust storms on Mars amplify each other's heating effects, raising surface temperatures by as much as 50°C (90°F) more than either phenomenon would alone. The synergistic effect poses an unexpected risk for future crewed Mars missions. The finding is based on observational evidence gathered by researchers studying Martian atmospheric conditions.
