F-35B stealth jet crashes near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar

An F-35B crashed near the runway at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, north of San Diego, at around 10 a.m. local time on Friday. Helicopter footage from Fox 5 showed the aircraft broken into two major pieces and burned. The incident has been classified as a Class A mishap — the military's most serious accident category. The pilot's status remains unknown.
