Recycled EVs could supply most of China's battery material needs by 2050

A study led by Xin Xiong at Nanjing University finds that recycling end-of-life electric vehicles could become the dominant source of key battery materials for EV manufacturing in China by 2050. Researchers modelled supply and manufacturing demand from 2010 to 2050, factoring in evolving battery chemistries. Cost competitiveness with virgin materials remains a key challenge.
