Trump revamps 340B drug discount programme — hospitals face upfront cost shift
The Trump administration has revised a pilot programme for the 340B Drug Pricing Program, which gives certain hospitals and clinics access to discounted medicines. From 1 January 2027, pharmaceutical companies will be allowed to offer rebates after purchase rather than upfront discounts. The change applies to drugs covered by the first two rounds of Medicare price negotiations and has drawn anger from hospitals.
