FIFA studying expansion of 2030 World Cup to 64 teams

FIFA is studying the potential expansion of the 2030 World Cup from 48 to 64 teams, which would be the second expansion in as many editions after the jump to 48 teams for the 2026 tournament. The last previous expansion was in 1998, when the field grew from 24 to 32 teams. No formal decision has yet been made.
