Archbishop of Canterbury expresses regret over Church's slavery role and reaffirms £100m fund

Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally expressed "lament" for the Church of England's involvement in transatlantic chattel slavery during a visit to Cape Coast castle in Ghana. She reaffirmed her commitment to a controversial £100m fund for communities affected by enslavement. The Cape Coast castle is a 17th-century fortress through which thousands of enslaved Africans were transported across the Atlantic.
