Fire-generated thunderstorm clouds appear over France for the first time

For the first time on record, pyrocumulonimbus clouds — fire-generated storm clouds that can intensify blazes and hamper firefighting — were observed forming above France during exceptionally intense fires. Experts warn that climate change is likely to make such events increasingly common.
