Russian Il-20 spy plane with transponder off near Kołobrzeg — Poland scrambles F-16s
A pair of Polish F-16s on duty intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft flying with its transponder switched off, approximately 40 km north of Kołobrzeg and just one kilometre from Polish territory. No violation of Polish airspace occurred. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the incident, noting it is the latest in a series of similar events in recent weeks.
