Katowice surgeons swapped heart ventricles to save a young boy's life
Surgeons at the Upper Silesian Children's Health Centre in Katowice performed a rare heart operation on a young boy named Mikołaj, physically swapping the roles of the left and right heart ventricles. Cardiac surgeon Dr Grzegorz Zalewski described it as one of the most complex heart operations imaginable. The procedure was successful and saved the child's life.
