Germany: unemployment tops 3 million as heatwave doubles air-con sales

Unemployment in Germany has topped three million people, with 1.1 million drawing jobless benefits, as an industrial slump takes its toll on Europe's largest economy. At the same time, record heatwaves have caused sales of air conditioning units to double across the country.
