Falcon 9 upper stage to hit the Moon on 5 August 2026 at 8:44 CET
A Falcon 9 upper stage owned by SpaceX is expected to strike the Moon on 5 August 2026 at 8:44 a.m. Polish time, according to calculations by independent astronomer Bill Gray. The object, roughly the size of a five-storey building, is travelling at about 2.4 km/s — seven times the speed of sound. Because the Moon has no atmosphere, it will reach the surface at full force. Pinpointing the exact impact site is difficult due to solar radiation pressure acting on the drifting rocket stage.
