Poland's defence minister: Operational Commander and F-16 pilot were authorised to shoot down the missile
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told the Sejm that Poland's Operational Commander and an F-16 pilot were authorised to decide to shoot down the Russian missile had it threatened populated areas. He stressed that rules of engagement differ in peacetime versus wartime. His remarks followed confirmation that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile flew roughly 100 km over Poland before exploding in a field in the Lublin region.
