Chinese military used OpenAI and Anthropic AI models to build battlefield systems

Chinese military researchers have used outputs from leading US AI models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic to train domestic AI systems intended for battlefield use, according to a new report. The findings highlight a significant gap in US export controls over AI technology. Both OpenAI and Anthropic prohibit military use of their tools in their terms of service.
