49,000 migrants cross into Ceuta in 24 hours, Spain deploys troops

Approximately 49,000 migrants crossed into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in an uncontrolled manner within 24 hours, Spain's Interior Ministry said. The government in Madrid deployed the military to the enclave, and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez travelled there in person. At least 19 people died while attempting to reach Spanish territory by sea.
