98 years ago Halina Konopacka won Poland's first-ever Olympic gold medal

On 31 July 1928, Halina Konopacka won the discus throw at the Amsterdam Olympics with a world-record throw of 39.62 m. It was the first Olympic gold medal ever won by Poland, achieved in the tenth year of the reborn Polish state.
