Australian veteran discharged for bisexuality in 1989 calls national apology 'long overdue'

David Gibson, discharged from Australia's military in 1989 because he was bisexual, has called on the prime minister to issue a formal apology to LGBTQ+ veterans and service personnel who faced discrimination. A recommendation for a national apology has been presented to the federal government. Gibson, who chairs GLBTI Rights in Ageing, said such an apology is "long overdue".
