French luxury sales decline as country's image falters
France controls roughly one third of global luxury sales — covering perfumes, jewellery, fashion and leather goods — but that share is shrinking. Sales are falling partly due to a deteriorating image of the country abroad. Leading French luxury brands are feeling the pressure of growing competition and weakening demand in key markets.
