Gironde Wildfire: First Cautiously Optimistic Day Since July 22

Thursday was described as the first "slightly optimistic" day in the battle against the wildfire burning in the Gironde department of southwestern France since July 22. The head of the prefecture, Sophie Brocas, said the fire remains active in two locations but the situation is showing signs of improvement.
