BYD hits 100,000 UK sales just three years after launch

BYD has sold more than 100,000 vehicles in the United Kingdom.

Achievement comes shortly after their launch in March of 2023.

Company continues to expand their lineup and retail presence.

The Chinese invasion of Europe continues and BYD has hit a huge milestone in the United Kingdom. The company recently sold their 100,000 vehicle in the country and it comes a little more than three years after sales began in March of 2023. The automaker noted the accomplishment has taken other brands “decades to achieve.”

BYD’s growth is nothing short of amazing as the brand launched with just the Atto 3 . Their lineup has now expanded to include ten different models. Furthermore, their dealership network has jumped from five retailers to 143.

Things aren’t slowing down either as the company sold 37,995 vehicles in the UK in the first half of the year. That’s over a third of the 100,000 total in just six months. According to SMMT , BYD’s June sales soared 36.2% to 6,242 units and they achieved a 2.93% market share.

The company’s UK Country Manager, Bono Ge, said “We are incredibly grateful to the 100,000 BYD owners who have placed their trust in us and to the 100,000 families behind them who have welcomed BYD into their lives.” The company went on to say they’re excited to bring even more models to the United Kingdom including the Shark pickup and Ti 7 SUV as well as Denza vehicles like the Z and Z9 GT.

BYD isn’t the only Chinese brand making it big in the United Kingdom as Chery’s Jaecoo J7 has quickly established itself as a top seller. The crossover starts at £24,555 ($33,072) and was the seventh best-selling vehicle in June as retailers moved 3,145 units. Year-to-date sales are even better at 23,840 units, putting the J7 in third place behind the Ford Puma and Kia Sportage.
