FAA Proposes Waiving Environmental Rules for Commercial Space Launches

The FAA has released a proposed rule that would allow it to waive environmental regulations for commercial rocket launches and spacecraft re-entries to speed up licensing. The agency argues some requirements are "unnecessary" and do not affect public health, safety or national security. The proposal is open for public comment for 30 days.
