WGA pulls Urbanworld festival sponsorship over AI initiative

The Writers Guild of America East withdrew its sponsorship of the 30th edition of the BIPOC-focused Urbanworld Film Festival due to the festival's association with an AI initiative. Founder Stacy Spikes warned the move could signal an era of guilds policing filmmakers. Spikes said the WGA provided little insight into its full reasoning during a follow-up call.
